Back to School, Study Skills, and the SAT/ACT

I don’t want to break anyone’s spirits, but summer’s over. Well, almost.

With school just around the corner, it’s time to add some book-cracking to the beach trips and barbecues to start the next school year off on the right foot. This means wrapping up summer-reading, reviewing the previous year’s math topics, and getting organized. For some older students, it may even mean that it’s time to start thinking about the SAT/ACT. It’s upsetting to think about, I know, but the time spent acclimating oneself to the academic routine again now will pay off greatly in the school year ahead.

Right now at Silver Oak, we’re focusing a lot on getting students ready for the school year ahead: helping students review old topics and preview new ones. We had a very successful Algebra review course, which we will continue to expand on, and we are still offering individualized rapid-reviews/previews for students that want to feel prepared and confident in September.

Come this fall, we’ll be ramping up our Study Skills and School Support programs, which focus on getting students organized, developing reading comprehension and note-taking skills, and learning how to become independent learners. We’ll also be continuing some our other successful events. On September 9th from 4-6pm we’ll be offering another day of free homework support to our current customers and their friends. We plan to hold these events regularly as a way of helping students stay on track throughout the year and as a thank you for using our services.

Additionally, we have a range of options for students looking for test preparation, including our SAT Cram Session, a variety of pre-packaged SAT/ACT programs, and our typical customizable, individualized options. We also have PSAT, Accuplacer, and other standardized test options.

As always, if you have any questions about these programs or events, contact us for details, or visit our events website.
